AT Medics commenced its management contract for Hanley Primary Care Centre on Monday 1st August 2016.
With a proven track record in rapid mobilisation of clinical services and extensive experience in clinical turnaround where governance issues exist, AT Medics are committed to delivering similar improvement that they have evidenced at the nearby Mitchison Road Surgery in Islington, where they have achieved a huge reputational shift since they began managing them in 2015, as well as across London at several other practices since 2004.
NHS England met with patients in late 2015, advising that the GP services management contract with Whittington Trust was due to expire in July 2016, and to listen to their views about the future of GP services at the practice. Patients shared their feedback which focused on poor access and continuity of care. AT Medics has now procured a 5 year renewable management contract for Hanley Primary Care Centre from 1 August 2016, and is committed to ensuring significant improvements, many of which are to be implemented immediately.
Hanley Primary Care Centre is located in Islington, the 14th most deprived local authority in the country and home to a very diverse community. Islington has a relatively young local population and over 50% of people in Islington are from ethnic minority backgrounds.
AT Medics work has included working in some of the most deprived areas in London and increasing access and provision successfully. They have also worked in difficult, poorly performing practices and have rapidly improved performance and efficiency, as well as developing and retaining a steady team.
Dr Aumran Tahir, AT Medics GP Director and Founder commented “We will be focused on responding to and better understanding the specific needs of patients at Hanley Primary Care Centre, whilst working to improve cooperation with local community organisations and to engage better with patients with enhanced health promotion.
Access is an issue in every GP practice up and down the country, but this simply means we need to work smarter and to be innovative in the way we deliver care.
We have already launched a new website for Hanley Primary Care Centre patients (www.hanleygp.co.uk), which can be instantly translated into 100s of languages, and this resource enables and promotes patient services such as Online Appointment booking, viewing your Medical Records and ordering Repeat Prescriptions – we will be working with our patient group to help them to access these resources to ultimately enhance their experience and to better self-care.
It’s really important to involve patients in helping to shape the care we deliver, as their voice helps us to design a service that truly meets their needs. We will be holding an Open Day soon to reach out to patients and the local community, and we will proactively engage with them to improve patient satisfaction through a consistent, personalised, warm and compassionate approach.”
It is with great pleasure that AT Medics has accepted a contract to manage Hanley Primary Care Centre.
